Abstract:
Padang cuisine is very popular and widely spread throughout Indonesia, even abroad. The existence of Padang Restaurant, giving its own identity of Minang ethnic presence in the overseas which is easily recognized by the enthusiasts of Padang Cuisine. Therefore, the architectural characteristics of Padang Restaurant in West Sumatra are influenced by Minang customs and culture in the land of origin with certain adjustments to its rantau (overseas or outsine West Sumatra). This study aims to describe the characteristics of padang restaurant in rantau area. The method used in this research is using data analysis done by qualitative descriptive method. This study yields conclusions about the typical characteristics of the padang restaurant and discusses three types of classification of eating places of Padang cuisine.
