dc.description.abstract Indonesia as an earthquake-prone country experienced the earthquakes that caused severe damage and many casualties. Only in June 2019 according to BMKG, the total number of destructive earthquakes (M> 5) which occurred as many as 35 events. It is very difficult to avoid damage caused by earthquakes because of its very destructive strength. However, if people can receive a warning from the coming of the earthquake even with just a few seconds, damages and casualties can be reduced because of the possibility of an appropriate reaction. The On-site Earthquake Early Warning System (EEWS) makes it possible to issue an alarm before the S-wave (severe shocks) and then provide sufficient time for a quick response to prevent or reduce casualties and damages. A structural health monitoring (SHM) system is needed so that in a short period of time can ascertain whether buildings after the earthquake can be inhabited or not. Inspired by the success of the On-site EEWS and SHM system in Taiwan, this study proposes the application of the On-site EEWS and SHM system to address the need for earthquake early warning for Indonesian country that often experience earthquakes to reduce disaster casualties due to earthquakes. As a first step, one of the proposed applications for high-rise buildings is to install the On-site EEWS and SHM system in Matana University tower with donation from NCREE Taiwan. The study also shows the location of the EEWS and SHM system sensors in the tall buildings to be applied. en_US
